Plate Loading Calculator

Choose your bar and plate set to turn a target total weight into a practical bar layout.

Use the toolFree · No account required

Enter bar and target

Calculate equal plates for both sides; when the target is not possible, show the closest lower load.

Inputs are calculated on your device and are not stored.

Bar layout

Enter a target to see the result

Enter a bar and target within the valid range.

Safety note

Load both sides evenly and use collars. The calculator cannot verify that the plates are available or that the movement is safe.

Quick guide

Distribute the target evenly

The plate calculator subtracts the bar and splits the remaining load equally between both sides. If your plate set cannot make the target exactly, it shows the closest lower load.

How to use it

  1. 1Enter the total target and bar weight.
  2. 2Choose the plate set closest to what is available.
  3. 3Load both sides evenly and use collars.

How should you read it?

For a 100 kg target with a 20 kg bar, each side needs 40 kg of plates. With the standard set, 25 + 15 kg on each side reaches the target.

Keep the limits in view

The calculator cannot verify equipment availability, bar or collar condition, or movement safety. Check the setup before lifting.

What this tool cannot do

The result is only a mathematical plate layout. It cannot verify availability or whether the movement is safe for you.
